Legal counsel, Russian speaking - oil trading

To complete the Legal Desk in the trading arm of a dynamic growing oil company, the Legal Department is looking for a Legal Counsel whose primary purpose is to provide high quality legal expertise and assistance in a trading company.

To work under the supervision of the head of legal desk of a major international trading house, and to provide high quality legal expertise and assistance, as well as guidance to other colleagues on the legal desk.

Counsel will handle disputes, claims resolution and litigation proceedings as well ensuring and promoting compliance with applicable laws and international trade sanctions, and provide guidance and mentoring to other legal desk colleagues.

Candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 – 5 years of experiences as in-house legal counsel / lawyer within an international environment, ideally Oil Trading.

You MUST have excellent Russian communication (mother-tongue/fluent). Proven expertise in litigation and claims, contracts and other legal-related matters of an oil trading business. They are also required to have a good understanding of the physical oil trading business, including but not limited to shipping, insurance and trade finance.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have achieved a Master’s degree in business law, international trade law, or maritime or chartering law, together with fluent English communication skills (mother tongue); fluency in French and/or Russian will be advantageous.
