Job Summary
The company is searching for a COO to manage the implementation and startup of the umbrella business.
The COO will be responsible for implementing the strategic plan of the business, negotiating critical agreements with respect to offering documents, prime brokerage arrangements, execution agreements and administration. Additionally, as the business develops, the COO will be involved in the employee build out, adding operational, trading and marketing staff to the business. The COO will be responsible for overseeing the company operations to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
Primary Responsibilities
Implementation: Implementation of the company vision including the strategic plan and operational plan.
Operations: Ensure efficiency, quality, service, cost-effective management of resources; approve company operational procedures, policies and standards
Profitability: Monitoring of daily performance and risk. Review daily activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
Marketing: Securing a marketing team to manage and grow the business.
Relationship with Board of Directors: Communications, reports, ethics and standards.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Experience in investment management operational activities. Knowledge of quantitative investment processes highly preferred.
Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. Able to analyze and interpret financial data.
Knowledge of marketing principles and practices. Knowledge of communication and public relation techniques. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Ability to negotiate vendor services agreements.
Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels.
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Masters in Quantitative Areas from top Academic Institution highly preferred.
At least 10 years of experience with financial firms focused on equities.
Experience with technology in a trading and execution environment.
